1. About this notice

Arrow Loans is a trading name of Burts (Hull) Limited. This notice describes how personal information is collected and used when you correspond with us, use our services or make a loan application.

2. Information we may use

The information we use depends on why you contact us and whether you make an application. It may include:

  • the information you provide when you contact us or request a service;
  • information supplied in or in connection with a loan application;
  • information about your financial circumstances and financial history;
  • public information, including electoral-register information;
  • shared credit and fraud-prevention information supplied by credit reference agencies; and
  • personal information generated when you access and use this website.

The website enquiry form currently asks for your enquiry type, name, email address and message. You may also provide a telephone number, postcode and preferred contact method. Please do not include passwords, card details, online-banking credentials or other unnecessary sensitive information in a general enquiry.

3. Why we use personal information

We use personal information for correspondence, to provide the service you request, to process applications and to help prevent fraud.

When considering an application, we may use information to:

  • assess your creditworthiness and whether you can afford the product;
  • verify the information you have provided;
  • prevent crime, fraud and money laundering;
  • manage your account;
  • trace and recover debts; and
  • help ensure that an offer is appropriate to your circumstances.

4. Credit and identity checks

To process an application, we will perform credit and identity checks with one or more credit reference agencies (CRAs). We will give CRAs personal information, and they will give us information about you. This can include information from your application, your financial situation and history, public sources such as the electoral register, shared credit information and fraud-prevention information.

We may continue to exchange information with CRAs while you have a relationship with us. We may also tell CRAs when accounts are settled. If money is borrowed and not repaid in full and on time, a CRA may record the outstanding debt and may supply that information to other organisations.

A CRA records searches made against a credit file. The type of search affects who can see the resulting footprint. Where an application is joint, or involves a spouse or financial associate, the CRA may link those records. Each person should understand this before a joint application is submitted.

The Credit Reference Agency Information Notice explains how the three main UK CRAs use and share personal information. Read the information provided by each agency:

5. Sharing information

We may pass personal information to third-party service providers that are contracted to Burts (Hull) Limited where this is needed in the course of dealing with you. Those providers are required to keep the information secure and use it only to fulfil the requested service.

We also share information with credit reference agencies as explained above. Information may be disclosed for fraud-prevention purposes, when required by law, or when required by a regulatory body.

6. Website data, cookies and analytics

Website hosting and security systems may record technical information such as an IP address, browser or device information, pages requested, dates and times, and error or security events. This information may be used to deliver, protect and troubleshoot the website.

The site stores your cookie preference in your browser. Google Tag Manager is configured so that analytics tags do not load unless you accept analytics through the cookie banner. You can revisit that choice using the cookie-settings control. Removing browser storage may cause the site to ask for your choice again.

7. Accuracy, security and retention

We aim to keep personal information accurate and up to date and not to keep it for longer than is necessary. Some records may need to be kept for periods set by law; otherwise, records are kept in line with our business requirements and procedures.

We use measures and procedures intended to reduce the risk of unauthorised access to or disclosure of the information we hold.

8. Your data protection rights

UK data protection law gives people rights over their personal information. The rights that apply depend on the circumstances and may include asking for access to or correction of information, asking for information to be erased or its use restricted, objecting to certain uses, and withdrawing consent where consent is relied upon.

To ask a question or make a request about your personal information, contact us using the details below. We may need to verify your identity before responding to a request.
